After the death of the last P of Cassano the heads of the different branches of the Paterṇ family met in family council at Palermo and recognised that the family's royal rights were vested in Don Mario Paterṇ Castello Guttadauro d'Emmanuel s. of Don Giovanni Paterṇ Castello iure maritale P of Emmanuel (son of Don Mario Giuseppe IV D of Carcaci) and his wife Eleanor Guttadauro last of the house of the P of Emmanuel and herself a descendant of the K of Aragon.
